Bay area thrash and little red books…

San-Francisco thrash veterans Exodus played their first show in China to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Painkiller Magazine. Painkiller, also known as ‘Heavy Duty Music’ (Zhòngxíng Yīnyuè) put on their ten-year party at the Mao Live House in Beijing with support from China’s Suffocated and Japan’s Grim Force. Exodus performed to a horde of crazy fans who have until recently, been unable to play in The People’s Republic of China. Do we smell a new era of musical freedom? Painkiller was established in 2000 as the country’s first official metal magazine and circulates somewhere in the region of 40,000 copies in China. Visit www.painkillermag.com for more information.
