Seattle drone duo Sunn O))) are teaming up with legendary experimental singer-songwriter Scott Walker for a new album due out this year.
The announcement was made when independent record label 4AD tweeted a link to the website www.scott-o.com that features just the main image above, of ‘Scott O)))’ and the label’s logo below. A source at the label then informed The Quietus that: “They’re working together and there is a record coming later in the year.”
Apparently they’re collaborating on the name too as Scott O))) is the only information that has been released yet and it promises to be an intriguing prospect involving two acts held by no boundaries. This also comes soon after Sunn O))) released Terrestrials, a collaboration with Norwegian experimentalists Ulver in February.
For Scott Walker it will be his first recorded material since 2012’s Bish Bosch, which received pretty good reviews all round. Of course ‘60s icons teaming up with metal bands is no new thing, but let’s hope it’s as far away as possible from the car crash that was Lou Reed’s collaboration with Metallica.
For more information, well you can sit and stare at www.scott-o.com while listening to both artists’ back catalogue and try guess what on earth the record will sound like!
