SAIL CLUB = VOCODER + STONER ROCK

A new music project has recently surfaced called Sun & Sail Club. The members are ex-Kyuss/The Obsessed bassist Scott Reeder, and from California lifestyle champs Fu Manchu: Bob Balch (guitar/vocoder vocals) and the other Scott Reeder on drums.

Beauty is in surprise. Sun & Sail Club’s debut album ‘Mannequin’ is an eyebrow mover inspired by Devo, Kraftwerk, Torche and Slayer. The writing process was alchemical, throwing a clean guitar and voice through a vocoder (the filtered audio output is a ‘talking synthesizer’) and fused with a bass and drum sound, stoner rock style.

Drummer Scott Reeder describes their conceptual recording approach as “first thought, best thought” whilst their Facebook page claims that this debut is one of the “most groundbreaking and arguably most pummeling and original albums the world has ever known” and that “Mannequin spearheads the obvious future and progression of hard rock fury”.
