Primordial and drummer Simon O Laoghaire have parted ways, and the band are now actively seeking a replacement. Talking to Zero Tolerance, Alan ‘Nemtheanga’ Averill commented: “After 13 years and 5 albums together Simon O Laoghaire has had to leave Primordial for an indefinite period. In simple terms he just needs some time out from the music industry and all the temptations that go with it. He has given us an incredible amount of his talent and passion over the years, has shared high and personal low points with us but the time has come for us to draw a line under the band as it has been and move on and for him to find himself. We wish him well in the search and there is no ill feeling between us. Only the will for all of us to find a solution and become stronger as a band and as individuals.
Right now we are searching for someone to fill his boots and they are big boots to fill! Someone who understands the dynamics of extreme metal but is fluid in the masters of Sabbath, Priest, Maiden and Lizzy. Being Irish or in Dublin is not essential but helps, committment and dedication are far more important.
Please email or send a video of yourself playing email@example.com.”
