Finnish death-doomsters Swallow The Sun return on Feb 6th 2012 with their new album, entitled ‘Emerald Forest And The Blackbird’. Their fifth album to date will be released once again on the Spinefarm label, and will include guest performances from Nightwish singer Anette Olzon and Aleah Stanbridge of Trees Of Eternity (who previously provided guest vocals on the haunting ‘Lights On The Lake’ on New Moon).
Guitarist Juha Raivio states that ‘Emerald Forest…’ is based around the bands trademark blend of “gloom, beauty and despair”. He reveals; “I was listening over and over again to an old Finnish lullaby, and suddenly the image came into my mind of a father reading a tale to his dying child, trying to explain where the child was going that night…. the tale of the Emerald Forest And The Blackbird. As for ‘Cathedral Walls’, we are extremely honoured to have Anette Olzon featuring on vocals – her signature tones give the song the depth and the angelic character it demands…”
