MALTA DOOM METAL 2012: YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!

After the huge success of the past three editions of the Malta Doom Metal festival the team behind the event are already making the requisite preparations to ensure another worthy edition of MDM on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2012, celebrating doom metal and its diverse shades and hues with the best the genre has to offer both locally and internationally. Albert Bell, also known as the Nomad Son and Forsaken bassist, told ZT it is their resolve to continue to build this festival and ensure that Malta is the No 1 destination for doom and related genres in Southern Europe.

“The Malta Doom Metal Festival is aimed at continuing to nurture Malta as the hub for doom metal in Southern Europe by bringing the best that the genre has to offer to the Island and also showcasing Malta’s enterprising doom scene to the doom pilgrims from abroad who have now made MDM an annual, obligatory pilgrimage! This year’s edition on the 2nd and 3rd November 2012 should prove no exception. We’ve put together a great billing representing the diverse shades and hues of the genre and will be headlined by Italy’s doom metal legends THE BLACK and Sweden’s epic doom gods SORCERER. We also have secured the participation of several other great bands from all over Europe including Russia’s FOREST STREAM, HOODED PRIEST from the Netherlands, England’s IRON VOID, Germany’s veteran doomheads DAWN OF WINTER, and more class acts from Sweden in the form of MORTALICUM and SEMLAH. Malta’s flag of doom will be held up high by OBLIQUE VISIONS and GRIFFIN DEVICE… SLIT also from Malta shall be playing a special sludge show at this year’s fest too and we still have three more acts to confirm, including an established band on the Island that will be confirmed soon.
So really, there is something for everybody at the festival. We shall be holding it again at the Roadhouse in the Buskett woods limits of Rabat, which offers great ambience and good acoustics as the doom fraternity who have visited the Island will surely attest. Moreover, the festival brings together like-minded souls from all over Europe and beyond who are passionate about doom metal – so it’s all about building and experiencing the sense of community that characterises doom metal – no egos, no rock-star wannabees… just 300 or so doom maniacs worshipping at the altar of doom! Join us… you won’t be disappointed!”

More bands to be announced shortly! For more info on the festival visit its official Facebook page.
