Known to be the first all female death metal band, the Pittsburgh, PA-based DERKÉTA, formed by Sharon Bascovsky (vocals & guitars) and Terri Heggen (drums) in late 1988, have recently recorded their debut album ‘In Death We Meet’. In an exclusive statement for ZT, Bascovsky reveals some details about the full-length:
“We reformed the original line-up to record ‘In Death We Meet’, which is our first full length album. The album is about 50 minutes in length, containing 8 unreleased songs which were written from the years of 1991 to 2010. It’s a good mix of doom death metal, keeping the same style that Derkéta has always had. We actually had two studios try a mix, and we opted for a dirtier sound versus having everything polished and clean. I think the Derkéta fans will enjoy this recording as we did not stray from when we started back in 1988”.
