Depressive Swedes Katatonia have announced their 9th studio album will be called ‘Dead End Kings’. Set for an August 27th release on Peaceville Records, it promises to be their “most poignant and ambitions material to date’.
The album was produced by Anders Nystrom and Jonas Renske and mixed by David Castillo at Ghost Ward Studios and The City Of Glass. It sees the recording debut of guitarist Per Eriksson and bassist Niklas Sandin, as well as a guest appearance from Silje Wergeland (The Gathering/ex Octavia Sperati).
Vocalist Jonas Renske comments on the album title; “Dead End Kings is about the corridors of our mind from where there is no return. Be a king or queen in your own right in these hallways, even at the dead end. Carry your burden with pride. That’s what we are doing, twenty years and counting. Kings, because we believe in what we are creating, in our own disturbing faith”.
