Judging by what's already on the horizon, it's looking like anything but a sparse year ahead... As if the 2005 announcements of not just Emperor, but also the near-mythical Celtic Frost taking to the stage later on this year wasn't enough in itself to have sent the extreme music world into a crazed frenzy - with cheap flight 'panic-buying' that's surely causing easyJet's site to crash left right and centre; the start of 2006, we can reveal, will play host to an entire barrage of heavyweight releases. If Christmas didn't leave you skint and busking for your breakfast, expect to feel a very large hole burning in your pocket throughout the first part of this fine new year - and don't expect it to get any smaller because before you know it, it'll be summer and you'll be elbowing your way to the front of that merchandise queue for one of every variation of t-shirt you can get your mud encrusted fingers on. But enough of that. This January/February edition of Zero Tolerance (which is indeed affordable even after a heavy Christmas - and a necessary purchase some would say), isn't without its coups. Okay, we might not yet have engineered an edition that can actually play you music as you turn the pages (with a dancing cardboard pop-up feature in the centre), but it's about as close to it as you can get without being ridiculous. For one; our humble, axe-wielding scribe Alex de Moller, made an eleventh hour deadline dash to Norway's capital, under strict orders to not, under any circumstances, sleep until he was able to turn in a magnificently written account of his mini-adventure. All this with just a day's grace before files were due to arrive at our ever suffering printers. "But why would he put himself under such pressure?" You ask... Given the choice of an exclusive UK-press interview with Darkthrone's Fenriz (Nocturno gets in his tuppence-worth, fear not), and a lack of a night's sleep, we decided not to play it safe, but to crack the journalistic whip and jeopardise an entire issue of the magazine just to ensure we are first to give you an in-depth insight into Darkthrone's new single and full-length album, both of which will be released during the same months as this issue. I mean, what's life without risks; and what's a magazine that doesn't take any? That's for you to decide, and this issue, we're quietly confident you'll agree the gamble was worth it. Oooh, I'm all out of space... Lisa Macey, publisher / editor PROPAGANDA Russell Garwood sniffs out the strongest stories around to bring you this issue's news. ZT life coach, Tyrone Pow, on the fine art of festive gift ideas. Danny Lilker's Brutal Truths. This issue's Zero Tolerance Attitude gets the wrath of our own woman scorned, Sarah Bennett. Your good friend Martin Ives, aka The Cunning Linguist, deciphers the grunted diction of metal… ZT readers make their written Appeals in this issue's letters page.
