EDITORIAL
STATEMENT
"Firstly, I'd like to wish a very happy
birthday - to us! Time flies when you're having fun, so you might
not have realised it, but this is edition marks a year's worth of
Zero Tolerance... Which reminds me, where's our presents?
Luckily for you, we're all about giving rather than receiving, and
so to celebrate, we've prepared a very special birthday issue with
a whopping 132 pages, making this by far our biggest offering yet.
As well as bumping up the page count, we've expanded our distribution
too - this will be the first issue of Zero Tolerance to be available
in shops outside of the UK - so a welcome is in order for any overseas
readers taking a shine to ZT for the first time.
We've got quality to match the quantity, though, not to mention an
unprecedented level of variety. They say it's the spice of life, so
tuck in with gusto to what could be our most aromatic issue yet [the
entire ZT staff cringed as they read this - MD]. As well as a barrel-load
[oh, Jesus Christ! - MD] of up-to-the-minute features, we managed
to get our foot in the door to bring you some intriguing advance features
on Arcturus, Ephel Duath and Cathedral, as well as a long-overdue
catch-up with the infamous Genesis P-Orridge, who shares his throughts
on two of his legendary projects, Psychic TV and Throbbing Gristle.
Fleshing out the content further, we've got a six-page black metal
spread, courtesy of our freshly recruited metal maharishi, Ricker
Groinley. How's all that for starters?
So here's to the beginning of another fruitful year, and a big thanks
to everyone who has bought ZT or supported us in one way or another.
We are very pleased that in our first year we managed to introduce
plenty of the regular features that readers have been demanding to
see in extreme music journalism: features on artists, record labels,
film composers and producers; instructional columns for musicians;
advice for aspiring bands; and retrospective articles reminding us
of forgotten classics and the early days of now-famous names.
As soon as we're done wolfing down birthday cake, guzzling (too much)
cheap white wine and blowing out our lone candle (whilst wishing for
more than 24 hours in the day, no doubt), we're going to clear our
foggy heads and see what else we can come up with for you over the
next year. Hip hip hooray!
