This is, for me at least, one of the hardest moments in the process of putting a magazine together; sitting and thinking about how to sum up all the things that could be said about an issue that maybe don't really need saying. Well, it's Blackie Lawless on the cover - you don't need telling, do you? The name W.A.S.P. speaks for itself, and longstanding scribe Miika Virtanen was lucky enough to land one of those interviews where something just clicks, with nothing seemingly off-limits.
What might need pointing out though is the editorial information lurking up in the top left corner of this contents page (over there - look - where it says what everyone does). Just as the seasons change, the winds of change have also been blowing here at ZT (brrrrr), so it is with more gratitude than can be conveyed here (and in a way that wouldn't see him cringe with embarrassment) that myself and co-founder Leon bid an enormous thanks to the brilliant Nathan T. Birk for his residency as your editor over the past half-decade. What we're NOT doing here, you should note, is saying farewell; from this issue, the Nashville hellraiser assumes his new role as associate editor. So, rather than 'toodles' (to coin one of Nathan's own phrases), it's great instead to be able to say hello to an increased flow of features and reviews from Nathan, alongside his revamped underground black metal section, and brand new serial, Exhume To Consume - but you can turn to page 090 to see what that's all about! And, if you turn to page 018, a name longtime readers should be familiar with has taken up a spot on our writing staff once again, and he's dived straight into an interview with Lee Dorrian about his new band, With The Dead.
So that just leaves me, and the news that I'll be stepping into the role as ZT editor once again. But anyway, if Blackie's codpiece is distracting you as much as it has me while I've been writing this, then maybe now's the time to get reading!
