IF YOU ARE A FALSE, DO NOT ENTRY.
Amongst the ZT ranks, we like to joke about this lil' English-as-second-language chestnut from the near-immortal Sarcofago. It's so utterly stupid yet so profoundly profound (ha!) that it makes absolute sense. Because, really, where would music — or any art-form, for that matter — be without the crucial question of authenticity? Put more specifically, why would you be reading this mag in the first place if you didn't believe us lot were actualy authentic? That there was an implicit trust in our scribblings each issue, to guide you through the thorny hedgerow that is our extreme music scene?
Some folks would like you to believe that they're the most 'authentic' or the most 'cult' or whatever — but what do they do to prove it? At first glance, sure: it all looks intimidating and forceful and all other verbal malarkey that's part and parcel of heavy metal imagery. But look closer at that supposedly steel-clad gauntlet and you'll find it's made of papier-mache. Shout all you want from the rooftops, smarter folks will suss you out if you dare to pose. Which is all roundabout way of thanking you, the readers, for your unflinching support issue in and issue out. Numbers don't lie, and we receive the 'truth' that you find ZT a credible, completely authentic periodical. We won't let you down anytime soon, promise. I mean, just look at this new issue — wow! Talk about varied content, from one end of the extreme music spectrum to the other, with various points in between. And again, we truly believe our review section is second to none amongst the metal-mag ranks.
Oh, almost forgot: this issue marks our eighth anniversary! Break out the bottles! I've been with ZT since issue #007 (thus, the beginning of the mag's second year) and it's been a wild ride so far; I wouldn't trade it for anything. And each issue we complete just bolsters our resolve that much more, that we are on the right path...and that we've got a lot of followers in kind. No false — we entry!
