I'm not sure how it happened, but there it was in my mind's eye: DIY OR DIE. And that's as deep as it goes...goodnight, folks, and enjoy the veal! But no, seriously - it just happened like that. And then I glibly spouted it to Alex and Lisa and eureka! We had wandered upon our next cover theme. Admittedly, our first choice of cover star was perhaps a bit too 'out there', a bridge too far for the majority of our metal-centric readership. But in the end, our (second) choice of Impiety turned out for the best, as this long-running - and fiercely independent - band embodies both the Do It Yourself ethic and serves as a nifty bridge between our DIY cover-themed section and the regular-features section. And if you look over to your right, you'll see an unusually massive number of regular features, which we're likewise pretty excited about: we love giving you, the reader, more bang for your quid! You're lovely people, after all.
Seeing as how this issue's also the first one of the New Year and all that, I guess it's time to take stock of last year...right? WRONG: we're looking ahead, not behind. The foremost way in which we'll do that is reconfigure our printing schedule. As you might've noticed already, this issue, while still technically being #039 and printing during the last week of January, is listed as our February/March edition. This move was made so that our (lovingly crafted) issues are [corroborative??? competitive??? GET WHAT I'M SAYING?] with the months they'll be on the news racks. Similarly, we'll still print bi-monthly, with each new issue arriving on a Thursday during the last week of every other month. Hope that makes sense? It will, soon enough. All too soon, too, I know you're all waiting for me to shut my gob so that you can get reading...right? Er, right...?! Well, for your sake and mine, I do hope so — this is just a foretaste of the madness to come this year. And that's a guarantee.
