Editorial Message

It's a ruse, really: that old chestnut of Writing An Editorial On How There's Nothing To Write About. Y'know, because it's literally the last thing to be written. And how you're just about spent (or worse) by that point. Droning and drivelling on and on, padding the word count, hoping no one's the wiser. And droning 'n' driveling some more. Kinda like how I'm doing here. Actually, PRECISELY what I'm doing here. See what I did there? (And hey, that's 77 words down! Oops, now 83! Oops again...) But maybe there's a deeper surface to this faux-angle, or at least a ruse upon a ruse. Maybe it's because this issue, maybe even more than last issue, really and truly speaks for itself. From the dicey cover-star selection on down, this issue can be viewed as our Throw Down The Gauntlet Issue. We not only wrap up our exploration of what it means to be 'underground' - this is Part Three, for those not keeping count - we close out the year with a big BANG. I mean, just look over to your right at the table of contents. Loads of bands you got the first word on here in ZT, now receiving the royal treatment as they ascend the ranks and scale the throne. Alongside 'em are lotsa new faces that likewise you'll be getting The First Word on in our compact, steel-clad tome. And, of course, plenty of points in between...because we feel you deserve it. Oh, and a review section that's second to none, both in breadth and depth, and my own personal guarantee of no pussyfooting around. In fact, with Mr. Alex de Moller as my trusty partner in crime, that's kinda become our de facto slogan: NO PUSSYFOOTING AROUND. And we plan to keep apace with that slogan; if you can believe it, we've already begun in earnest our game-plan for the next issue forward. Not giving away any secrets, but rest assured that yet another gauntlet's gonna be thrown down. And if you can believe it, I've JUST met my word count for this editorial...here!
